Aruwe Hosts 3-Day 2026 Budget Retreat Tagged “Budget for Sustainable Growth and Development”

The Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe, has hosted a 2-day Budget Retreat on the 27 and 28, November,2025 at Osmak Hotel in Ibadan for the formulation of the 2026 fiscal plan, themed “Budget for Sustainable Growth and Development.”

The retreat convened principal officers, heads of departments and units, council legislators, and key stakeholders to deliberate on strategic priorities that will guide the council’s financial direction for the 2026 fiscal year.

Distinguished Senator Ganiu Olanrewaju Solomon, in his address, emphasized the importance of unity among the Executive Cabinet, the Legislative Arm, and the Civil Service. He noted that peace, cooperation, and mutual understanding are essential ingredients for achieving sustainable growth within Mushin Local Government.

In his goodwill message, Hon. Bamigboye, the immediate past Chairman, highlighted the significance of loyalty, love, and mutual respect. He underscored that a harmonious relationship between politicians and civil servants is crucial for meaningful and continuous progress in the local government administration.

Also addressing participants, Hon. Oyeyemi Ayoola, Special Adviser to the Governor on Internal Audit, described the retreat as a vital step towards enhancing efficiency, transparency, and financial discipline across the council’s operations.

Members representing Mushin Constituencies I and II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Yinka Esho-Kazeem and Hon. Nureni Akinsanya, were also present, adding colour, support, and legislative backing to the retreat.

HRH Oba Sikirullahi Olamide Williams, Osu-Apena I, encouraged participants to embrace hard work and also emphasized the importance of maintaining a savings culture while in service, ensuring individuals have something to fall back on after leaving office.

Delivering his keynote address, Hon. Aruwe stated that the 2026 budget will be anchored on strategic planning, accountability, and inclusive governance. He stressed that sustainable development requires long-term thinking, proper assessment of community needs, and a collective commitment to excellence.

Hon. Aruwe reaffirmed that his administration will prioritize infrastructural development, improved primary healthcare, enhanced basic education, environmental sanitation, youth and women empowerment, and strengthened internal revenue processes. He stressed that every initiative in the 2026 budget must deliver value for money and create measurable impact for residents.

During the retreat, departments and units presented their 2025 performance reports, identified operational gaps, and proposed forward-looking strategies aligned with the council’s development agenda. Participants were encouraged to adopt innovative and technology-driven approaches to enhance efficiency and strengthen service delivery.

The Chairman emphasized that effective collaboration across all arms of the council remains vital to building a more prosperous Mushin. He appreciated staff, partners, and community stakeholders for their unwavering support and urged them to remain committed to the council’s vision for sustainable development.

The retreat also featured seasoned resource persons who facilitated sessions on budgeting, procurement processes, and standardisation.

Attendees included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Semiu Karaole; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Oladele Abioye; Chief of Staff, Hon. Olajide Lukmon; Council Manager, Mrs. Adepeju Ogidan; Council Treasurer, Mrs. Olanike Folikwe; all Councillors; all Heads of Departments; and notable community stakeholders.

The 2026 Budget Retreat continues with technical sessions, breakout discussions, and in-depth reviews aimed at producing a comprehensive, realistic, and people-centered financial plan for the year.
