The Finance Department of Mushin Local Government serves as the financial management backbone of the council. It ensures the proper collection, utilization, and reporting of public funds in alignment with government policies and global accounting standards.

The department manages all financial operations — from budgeting and revenue collection to expenditure control and financial reporting. Through sound fiscal management and internal control systems, it guarantees transparency, accuracy, and accountability in every financial transaction.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

Preparing annual financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting and audit standards.

Revenue Generation & Collection

Supervising the collection of taxes, levies, and other government revenues while ensuring accountability at all stages.

Expenditure Control

Reviewing payment requests, processing invoices, and ensuring that spending complies with the approved budget.

Payroll Administration

Managing the payment of staff salaries, pensions, and benefits accurately and promptly.

Cash & Treasury Management

Monitoring and controlling cash flow, bank transactions, and municipal investments for liquidity and financial stability.

Debt & Grant Management

Tracking loans, bonds, and grants to ensure timely repayment and proper utilization of funds.

Internal Controls & Audit Support

Implementing strong financial control systems to prevent fraud, waste, and financial mismanagement.

Financial Advisory Services

Providing financial analysis and advice to the Executive Chairman and Council for informed decision-making.
